Jeffrey Ransom

Hi, I’m Jeffrey Ransom (yes, perfect name for Cybersecurity), founder of Oranje Compliance. I help businesses make sense of systems, standards, and compliance—without forgetting the humans behind the work.

My path here wasn’t traditional. From tattoo studios and kitchens to photography and tech, I’ve followed curiosity over convention. I didn’t plan to be a compliance consultant (try explaining that at parties), but it turns out, untangling complexity is exactly how my brain likes to work. Now, I get to help others do the same.

About Oranje Compliance

Oranje Compliance (pronounced — "Orange") was founded by Jeffrey Ransom—an auditor, consultant, pastry chef, and generalist with a background that spans tattoo studios, professional kitchens, and cybersecurity. After years spent inside a fast-paced consultancy, helping organisations navigate ISO standards, internal audits, and operational challenges, Jeffrey started Oranje Compliance with a simple goal:

To make auditing a tool for improvement — not a checkbox exercise.

Oranje Compliance exists to help companies get ahead of the curve. Too often, businesses wait until they hit a wall—whether it’s a lost deal, a stalled partnership, or an urgent certification need — before they think seriously about compliance or internal systems. By that point, it’s stressful, expensive, and often messy. Too often, businesses approach audits with hesitation or see them as something to "get through". But when done properly, an audit isn't about fault-finding or passing judgement — it's about seeing clearly

At Oranje Compliance, our focus is on independent, transparent auditing that helps organisations strengthen their management systems and make informed decisions — without bias, upsell, or hidden agendas.

Our work is grounded in clarity, impartiality, and a genuine interest in helping teams improve the systems they already rely on.

Whether we're conducting an internal audit against an ISO standard, performing a gap analysis, or completing a bespoke assessment to help a company gain assurance over their practices, the purpose is always the same:

To help you see your system clearly — and make it stronger

About the Founder

Where did I start?

After high school, I began an apprenticeship in a tattoo studio. I’ve always been drawn to mastering a skill, and tattooing—creative, precise, and rooted in tradition—fit the bill. The shop was full of unexpected characters: rough-edged but kind-hearted. The apprenticeship was intense (yes, I was zapped with electric fly swatters and shot with a BB gun a few times—it's a long story but I promise I wasn't abused), but it taught me discipline, instinct, and how to perform under pressure. Most importantly, it showed me how deeply people carry their stories—and how vital it is to listen. Next came marathon photography. A different challenge: waiting for hours to capture fleeting seconds of grit and triumph. I shot thousands of images per race, with only a few ever used. That role taught me patience, timing, and the beauty of imperfect moments that still matter. Then I found myself in a busy London kitchen, working as a baker. Early starts, long days, and relentless repetition demanded precision, consistency, and quiet pride in process. It reshaped how I think about systems—and gave me a surprising appreciation for health and safety regulations, which turned out to translate remarkably well into information security.

Finding my why

When I returned home after baking in London, I knew I wanted to work in tech—I just didn’t know where I fit. I dabbled in red-teaming for a few months but quickly realised I wasn’t interested in the nitty-gritty of exploiting buffer overflows. What drew me in was the bigger picture. That’s when I found Compliance. Weirdly enough, I was genuinely excited by policies and documentation. I’d always loved logic, language, and dissecting semantics—even as a teenager. The more I explored GRC, the more it clicked. It was technical, but people-focused. Structured, yet flexible. A place where I could bring together logic, empathy, and communication—and actually make it mean something.

Getting started

I landed my first compliance role after a conversation with the owner of a small consultancy—one chat turned into a job offer. I started with the usual grunt work: research projects and tasks no one else wanted. But I began to spot inefficiencies and started building internal processes to make our work more consistent and scalable. Internal audits quickly became a core part of my role—and I loved them. They weren’t just about ticking boxes; they were a window into how businesses actually operate. I got to see where things could be tightened, and help teams move from where they were to where they wanted to be. Along the way, I learned a ton—everything from budgeting structures to software development cycles.

What clicked

ISO standards—especially ISO 27001 and ISO 9001—just made sense to me. They don’t hand you a checklist; they ask you to understand your business first, then apply what fits. That approach really clicked. ISO 9001 in particular lit something up in my brain. It’s about managing the full lifecycle of a product or service, keeping intent and quality at the centre, and documenting what actually matters. Once I understood the why behind the standard—not just the wording—I was hooked. I saw that quality and compliance aren’t about rigid rules. They’re about building systems that help people do better work.

What I offer your business

I’ve always been a generalist—curious, cross-disciplinary, and drawn to how things fit together. Auditing gave me a structured way to keep exploring that. Now, through Oranje Compliance, I bring that mindset to every engagement. Clients can expect someone adaptable, genuinely interested in how their business works, and focused on building tailored frameworks. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. I believe in listening, applying logic, and helping teams meet standards in ways that work—for them, not just for an auditor.
